Privacy Policy
Olami Herzliya mobile app · Last updated September 23, 2026
This policy explains what information the Olami Herzliya app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account & profile. Your name, email, phone/WhatsApp number, country, university or program, expected graduation year, date of birth, and any background details you provide when you register or complete your profile.
- Sign-in. You can sign in with an email and password, or with Google or Apple. When you use Google or Apple sign-in, we receive basic profile information (such as your name and email) from that provider.
- Activity. The events you RSVP to, your ticket and attendance status, meetings, and your responses to polls.
- Photos. A profile picture and any photos you choose to upload to event galleries.
- Location. Only while the app is open, from 30 minutes before an event until an hour after it ends, near the venue, and only to check you in (a "geofence" check-in, including when you arrive without a ticket). The coordinates are used once and not stored. We do not track your location in the background or at any other time.
- Notifications & device. A push-notification token so we can send you updates, and basic device information needed to run the app.
How we use your information
- To run the app — show events, manage your RSVPs and tickets, your personal hub, and attendance.
- To communicate with you — event confirmations, approvals, reminders, and announcements by push and email. You can turn notification categories on or off in the app's Settings.
- To understand participation and improve our programming.
How we share your information
- With Olami Herzliya staff who organize and run the programs.
- With service providers who operate the app on our behalf — hosting, push-notification delivery (Expo), email delivery (including Google's Gmail), our relationship-management system (Salesforce), and Google, where our staff keep their contacts and calendars — under obligations to protect your information.
- With OLAMI United, the OLAMI network's records system, which receives the events and meetings you attend so the network can report on its programs.
- On the website's public Community page, which shows recent activity: your first name and the first letter of your last name, with the event you're going to or came to (only once your place is confirmed). No photo, email or phone number is ever shown there.
- When required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our community.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices and rights
- View and update your profile any time in the app (Account / Settings).
- Turn off notification categories you don't want.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us.
- Delete your account at any time, in the app or on this website. See how to delete your account for the steps and exactly what is removed and kept.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to run our programs and meet legal obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove or de-identify your personal information except where we're required to keep it.
Security
Information is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the app authenticates using secure tokens rather than storing your password on your device. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Children
The app is intended for university students and adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes may be highlighted in the app.
